Bangladesh Tourism Board
Bangladesh Tourism Board is a statutory body under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Established in 2010 by dint of Bangladesh Tourism Board act-2010, the organization is officially and legally designated National Tourism Organization (NTO) of the country for overall development, promotion and management of tourism industry in Bangladesh. A Governing Body of 17 members headed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism governs the functions and responsibilities of the Board which has five members from private sectors and the rest are from different concerned ministries of the government. The Governing Body is responsible for making policy, and creating guidelines and strategies for implementation of the policy and the decisions of the government. The Chief Executive of the Board is the member-secretary of the Governing Body who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for implementation of the decisions of the Governing Body. Since starting its journey in 2010, the organization continues to work on developing and promoting tourism as an economic sector of the country. Strategic plans and policies have been worked to prioritize the importance of tourism and to facilitate development and marketing initiatives of both public and private sectors as to how tourism to be identified as a big foreign exchange earner.
Bangladesh Tourism Board has carried out few award winning campaigns which have been applauded by international community and thus the campaigns are playing very effective role to create a distinctive positioning of Bangladesh in global travel and tourism arena. Beautiful Bangladesh-School of Life — the first ever country promotional campaign launched during 2011 Cricket World Cup — created a huge awareness at home and abroad about Bangladesh. A television commercial made on this theme got several international awards and helped shaping a positive image of the country.
During ICC T20 World Cup 2014, Bangladesh Tourism Board launched an another worldwide promotional campaign to encourage international spectators and visitors to travel to Bangladesh and enjoy wonderful hospitality and experience. The campaign ‘Beautiful Bangladesh – Land of Stories’ served its purpose very well and the promotional film made on this theme has got many awards internationally and has created a big bang in the global travel and tourism market. It got the best award in the Zagreb Tourfilm Festival, 2nd Best award in Baku International Tourism Film Festival with American Business Award and the prestigious Cannes Corporate Film Award.
BTB attends different international travel and tourism exhibitions and exhibits Bangladeshi tourism products and services very attractively which made BTB pavilions and stands awarded in some exhibitions.
