The Samdani Art Foundation announces the third edition of the Dhaka Art Summit from February 5 to 8, 2016, a pioneering initiative for South Asian art that brings together artists, curators, museums, galleries and visitors from across Bangladesh and the world to discover institutional quality works in a non-commercial environment.

DAS 2016 will be held from February 5–8 in the country in collaboration with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and the Bangladesh Tourism board, as well as over 50 international partners. As artists from different countries come here so it’s a huge platform for Bangladesh Tourism Board to promote Bangladesh under Visit Bangladesh Campaign.

Travel and Tourism Fair 2016

Marking the 192nd birth anniversary of poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta, a seven-day fair, titled “Madhu Mela”, will begin at Sagardari village in Jessore on January 22.

Madhu mela will start from 22 – 26 January, at Sagordari of Jessore district to celebrate the 192nd birthday of Michael Madhushudon Datta. A week long fair will be organized for the occasion by the local authority.

Bangladesh Tourism Board officials will attend the fair with a cultural program(organized by BTB) that will be held on 25th January from 7 to 8 pm. Tourism Minister Mr. Rashed Khan Menon will be present as the chief guest on 25th January at the cultural program and evening discussion panel.

CEO of Tourism Board and Tourism Minister will give a speech during the program and attend the discussion program as well.

On the occasion of the 45th Victory Day of Bangladesh; Bangladesh Tourism Board has launched another campaign among foreigners for “Visit Bangladesh 2016 Activation” by distributing T-Shirts, hand flags and stickers of Visit Bangladesh Logo to Promote Visit Bangladesh 2016 in Banani, Gulshan1/2, and Baridhara of Dhaka City. Tourists can be seen in the photographs wearing Visit Bangladesh branded t shirts and holding flags to welcome everyone for Visit Bangladesh 2016.

World Travel Market – WTM 2015

BTB – Bangladesh Tourism Board, participated in the World Travel Market (WTM) 2015, held from 2-5 November, 2015 in London, United Kingdom. Staged annually in London, World Travel Market – the leading global event for the travel industry – is a vibrant must attend business-to-business event presenting a diverse range of destinations and industry sectors to UK and International travel professionals. It provides a unique opportunity for the whole global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business. WTM is a truly international event which brings together travel professionals from 186 countries and regions to London for four days.
Bangladesh was beautifully showcased in a diverse way in WTM this year to promote Visit Bangladesh Year 2016. Bangladesh Tourism Board together with a group of private tour operators exhibited their exotic products and services to the European travel market in the exhibition. Bangladesh High Commission in London and BTB jointly participated in this event to create an enormous hype that drew attention of the Europeans and other foreign tour operators.

Developing Sustainable and Inclusive Buddhist Heritage and Pilgrimage Circuits in South Asia’s Buddhist Heartland

unnamed_199The International Conference on Developing Sustainable and Inclusive Buddhist Heritage and Pilgrimage Circuits in South Asia’s Buddhist Heartland in Dhaka, Bangladesh held from 27-28 October 2015 brought together a diverse range of actors and stakeholders i.e. government policy-makers, civil society, NGOs, community-based organizations, faith based entities, academic-research-professional institutions/bodies, development partners, relevant UN agencies/organizations and mass media with the aim at securing inclusive and sustainable promotion, protection, conservation and entire development of Buddhist Heritage and Pilgrimage circuits in South Asia’s Buddhist heartland.

prime_minister_sheikh_hasina_11Observing that Bangladesh has all the treasures to emerge as the world’s new tourist destination, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon the Buddhist-populated countries to work out a roadmap to boost tourism of this region with Buddhist culture while inaugurating a high-profile two-day international conference “Developing Sustainable and Inclusive Buddhist Heritage and Pilgrimage Circuits in South Asia’s Buddhist Heartland” at the capital’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on 27th October 2015. Sheikh Hasina said the government has taken a decision to celebrate the year 2016 as the tourism year or “Visit Bangladesh Year-2016” for further strengthening the campaign and marketing of the tourism industry. Prime Minister also hopes that, the respected delegates would be able to draw a roadmap for the development and promotion of tourism industry in the region and they would come forward to help each other to implement the roadmap. She firmly believes that they would portray Bangladesh tourism in different international forum as they will pursue a new path of mutual cooperation. The Prime Minister later visited the tourism souvenir corner outside the auditorium.
