National Workshop titled ‘Developing Sustainable Tourism Based on Buddhist Heritage, Culture and Pilgrimage Circuit’
Bangladesh Tourism Board organized a National Workshop titled ‘Developing Sustainable Tourism Based on Buddhist Heritage, Culture and Pilgrimage Circuit’ at CIRDAP Conference Centre in Dhaka on 1st September 2015. The workshop was held in preparation for a global conference to be held in Dhaka on 27-28 October 2015. Bangladesh Tourism Board will organize the conference with the assistance of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister, Mr. Rashed Khan Menon, Cultural Affairs Minister, Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Khorshed Alam Chowdhury, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Chairman, Dr. Aparup Chowdhury and Bangladesh Tourism Board’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Akhtaruzzaman Khan also spoke at the workshop and highlighted the sites of relics which could be easily made attractive to the tourists.
Tour operators, Buddhist experts, archaeological experts along with tourism professionals gave their opinions and thoughts regarding promoting, conserving and developing Buddhist Heritage, pilgrimage circuits and culture of Bangladesh.
Recommendations of the workshop would be presented in the International Conference on 27-28 October 2015.
